This is one of the early versions for the center spread for the book. There were a lot specifications to set up this illustration. The final piece (which is in the book) looks pretty close to this version. The designers wound up using their own photo cut outs for each of the band members faces. And I had to make a couple of additional changes to the look. For instance, the most radical change was with Nils. He did not want to be in a leotard. He wanted a gypsy bandana on his head and long pants. I'm just glad these folks have such a good sense of humor about themselves to allow for sideshow caricatures (albeit mild) of themselves. - And on a somewhat unrelated note ... hats off to Bruce for stepping out on the campaign trail this year.
